Find Your Place in the ‘YouEconomy’

Have you heard of the YouEconomy? This new phrase encompasses the rapidly growing number of entrepreneurs and self-employed. These are your friends and neighbors who are no longer willing to rely on the  economy, a company or the government for their livelihood.

After the recession in 2008, it became obvious that we can no longer rely on a steady paycheck and benefits from the most well-established companies. We have to take control of our financial future and create our own economy! Companies are shifting their mind-set and hiring practices . Many are realizing they can save money and resources by contracting rather than hiring. And compensating based on performance not hours. In fact, leading economist Paul Zane Pilzer said, “By 2020, it’s expected that more than half the US workforce will be YouEconomy participants.” That’s a huge shift away from the 9-5 work culture of previous generations. People will no longer work for one company for 30+ years and retire with a pension and a gold watch! Those days are gone people! We can no longer rely on companies or government to take care of us; we have to take care of ourselves!

“This change in the corporate approach to hiring means that anyone still working a full-time job is actually in jeopardy of losing that seemingly secure job
i
n favor of a more convenient, more economical contract worker.”
Success Magazine, June 2016

It has never been easier to start your own business. It can literally take 60 seconds! Whether you have a set of skills you can offer as a freelancer, a product you create and sell, knowledge and experience you can leverage as a consultant or choose to participate in network marketing, you can start today! People are choosing to work their full-time job and ‘moonlight’ on the side to grow their own business until it can replace all or part of their income. Others are jumping in with both feet. I chose to jump in with both feet and haven’t looked back! I was presented with a network marketing opportunity that I believe in and through consistent  hard work, dedication and inspiration, I’ve created my own economy that allows me to live life on my terms. The great thing about network marketing is that it is easy and affordable to get started. Companies offer built-in marketing, products backed by science, low overhead, and unlimited potential for income. It is the “YOU” economy, you decide what your worth and where you “ceiling” is!

YouEconomy

I encourage you to take some time to think about the skills and interests you’ve acquired over the years. How can they help you become a part of the YouEconomy? Once you start using those skills on your own terms, in your own business, you’ll find you have more control over your income, how you spend your time, and how you learn and grow as an entrepreneur. You’ll also meet a ton of people who share your values and are great resources for knowledge and referrals. And best of all, you can be on the forefront of a new way of living the life you dream of and help others along the way!

Here’s to your success in the YouEconomy!

Working for myself and not going to an office 9 – 5 has been incredible. I wear many hats in my business and so there is always something new to experience. One suggestion I would give to others who are beginning is to start with your attention on one business idea and when it is going, then you can add another.

Here here! I can’t imagine ever working ‘real’ hours again or for anyone else.
I switched my business to something else when things got tough and now things are going good again. It’s such an amazing journey.

I love the term Youeconomy. I spent 25 years in corporate America and, while I’m thankful for my experience, I’m beyond happy that I work for myself now.

Thanks for giving us this youeconomy terminology. I agree that all is changing. There are no secure jobs anymore. I have been an entrepreneur since my 20s so did not experience the shock as many others did. Grateful for that and pleased that we all have endless opportunities in front of us

I’m living the YouEconomy! When I was laid off from Corporate America in March this year, I took my freelance business full-time. It’s been an exciting, frustrating, happy, stressful journey. (Just being honest!) I do believe that the 9-5 life is going away. Businesses don’t want to pay employees or provide benefits. And the government…well, I won’t even talk about that! There is opportunity everywhere, so now is a great time to start. Very inspirational article, I enjoyed it!

I completely agree with this article. We should all be responsible for our own destiny. I could never imagine doing a 9-5 job again. Starting my own business has given me the opportunity to live the life I want which included moving to a beautiful greek island so I can spend more quality time enjoying life and not just working all the time.

The internet has certainly made it easier for people to start their own businesses. It’s still a lot of work, maybe more so than a traditional offline business, but it’s well worth it to me.
